I didn’t have a crisis when I went looking for a program to defend my PC, it was more of a preventive measure after hearing a number of people at work complain of being attacked on line over the past few weeks. Some new “worm” they called it.

I felt pretty lucky that I had been running without any protection for a long time without incident but thought it was time to do something. Being frugal I went looking for free ware to protect me even though I realized that you sometimes only get what you pay. Mycleanpc.com announced in their banner “free download” and I needed little more than that to make me push the button.

Mycleanpc delivered the goods as advertised. A free for ever copy of the virus protection software. As promised it did a complete scan of my hard drive. My Clean PC found a few pieces of adware that came from companies I buy from so I just left them there for now.

After a few months I noticed that when I turned the PC on it was taking longer everyday to completely log on and when it did the Internet seemed to be unavailable for upwards of a minute while the HD light blinked away. I ran the “free” software and found I had accumulated a bit more spyware that was now slowing my PC down.
