How Smart Promotions in the microfinance industry
The Smart Campaign, a global initiative that seeks to incorporate sound practices to protect the client in the microfinance industry, announced in Washington that amounted to a thousand members.
Microfinance institutions, networks, investors, individuals and donors from 106 countries have decided to add their names to this campaign.
“The campaign was launched last October and we are delighted by the incredible response from industry leaders in this short time,” Robin Radcliff (pictured), director of The Smart Campaign.
“Adherents mean the commitment of the industry to enshrine the protection of the client as an essential part of microfinance. More importantly, we see that these adherents are taking concrete steps to maintain the wellbeing of clients as a priority number one industry, “said Radcliff.
Through its online base, The Smart Campaign offers a variety of tools and resources to support implementation of the Client Protection Principles universally accepted. One such tool is a questionnaire (Getting Started Questionnaire) to help MFIs to assess their own practices for customer protection. Another focused on lending activity (Smart Lending: Credit Client Protection in the Process) is a roadmap to MFIs aimed at protecting the client after the whole process of credit.
