Website owners can no longer depend exclusively on good search engine optimization practices and popular keywords to draw traffic to their websites. With thousand of new websites being created every day, the competition for all but the most micro niche is intense.

Many of these new websites are perfectly good websites, full of good content and optimized for search engines, yet few make it past the first year. Most new websites are simply abandoned by their owners as these people were discouraged by their lack of traffic.

Good link building practices could have saved many of these websites from being abandoned. Search engines like websites with inbound links from popular websites and blogs, especially natural links, not paid links. Paid links are not to be confused with paying a company to perform link building services.

All websites need link pointing to the website in order to rank well in search engine results, yet link building is time consuming and difficult. It’s not easy getting good inbound links for a website. Typically people either give up in frustration or end up hiring a company that specializes in link building to obtain good, quality back links from high page rank websites. The latter is is good idea, especially if a person put a great deal of time and effort into creating their website.
