There are literally hundreds of forums about fishing on the net, just do a Google search and pages and pages of forums about all types of fishing are listed. However, if you ask avid fishermen where they go online to read and participate in discussions, only a few fishing forum names come up over and over again.

A fishing forum that is unorganized is a turn-off to visitors. People give up on trying to read the posts and end up asking questions that have been asked before and answered. This is a common problem on all forums and it is very annoying to those members who take the time to answer questions thoroughly. This problem can e solved with a search feature that allows keyword searches and searches by category.

Since people typically visit forums initially with a question, knowing how many posts a member has contributed allows new visitors to feel they are learning from an experienced member of the fishing community. It is also a way to thank people for their forum contributions.

In the age of social media, static, do-nothing websites and blogs will be passed over by visitors looking for a dynamic, engaging community. Just think of forums as a social community of like-minded individuals who enjoy talking to others who share a very specific interest, like fishing.
